Tai Chi in Portland

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

Portland is a green city. Well, that’s an obvious statement for anyone who has ever been there and noticed all of the lush and beautiful foliage, trees and gardens. However, it is also green in the environmental sense. And if that’s a strong statement to make about any city it can be modified to acknowledging that many of the city’s residents are extremely health, fitness and environmentally oriented. And now one might think that would be obvious in such a naturally beautiful city, and it is. Part of what many people do on a daily basis to keep them fit physically, mentally and also spiritually is to engage in a tai chi or yoga workout.

There are many studios and private instructor lessons that provide all levels of tai chi exercise to participants of all ages. The Tai Chi Foundation is a well respected organization with a school in Portland. They take a holistic approach to the art and emphasize the emotional balancing aspects of this practice. The Taoist Tai Chi Society of the USA is another well respected establishment with a branch in Portland. It has various levels of training and practice lessons. It is not uncommon to see people in some of the city’s beautiful parks practicing this ancient art. The Portland luxury hotels will have information on where guests can participate in a local class.

Boston Interdisciplinary

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Boston is one of the oldest cities in the country, with a rather esteemed reputation in just about every possible area of interest. History, finance, natural beauty, and culture, are all part of the fabric that makes this one of the most exciting urban areas. In terms of culture, all the arts are fairly substantially represented, and it’s sometimes hard to sift through everything to find the real jewels. Those who pass through town in Boston hotels are always wondering about the best work.

For new, original, and absolutely enticing visual performance, there’s Kinodance . They’ve been in the city for over ten years, which is just long enough to have a reputation, but short enough to still be young and very fresh. Their work blends dance, cinema, and visual art, in a way that’s high in experiment, as well as the power to amaze. Their approach is entirely interdisciplinary, which means that forms are crossed and bridged rather freely. In contemporary performance, this is a way of thinking about making work in an entirely different way. Artistic disciplines are traditionally very closely guarded, and well-protected by practitioners and critics alike. Opening up the possibilities for new connections is a practice that translates into a vibrant and constantly-evolving body of work. The evolution can be caught in glimpses in Boston.

The Right Theme Park Attire Makes for an Enjoyable Time

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Summertime means Amusement Park time! The heat should not become a hindrance when it comes time to enjoying all the thrilling rides, and when the right precautions have been taken by every family member, this is how you have greatly reduced your chances of theme park accidents .

Theme parks have long been regarded as a wonderful place to have summertime fun, but when it comes to protecting your body against the heat, many people fail miserably and in turn can cause not only harm to themselves but create incidents that end up on the park’s accident report. Dehydration, 2nd degree sunburns and foot injuries are the major incidences listed as most accidents.

Even though you may want to look stylish while at the theme park, wearing the proper clothing attire is highly recommended. Long sleeve shirts, hats, close-toed shoes, applying sun-block lotion and drinking plenty of fluids (non-alcoholic) will ensure that your time at the park will be an enjoyable time. Wearing a strapless or spaghetti-strapped sun-dress, tank-top, flip-flops or heels will guarantee that you will end up having a miserable time at the park. Only applying sun-block before you go is not enough, you need to bring enough for your entire family to apply all day long; basically all family members should have their own sun-block lotion, enough money to buy bottled water and everyone should have a hat. This way all of your family members don’t have to keep running back to where you are in order for them to thoroughly enjoy the park.

Remember, at the end of spending a full day at a theme park, all that should be your concern is how fast can you get back to your hotel room, relax poolside and reminisce about what a wonderful time you and your family had together.

The Advantage of Vinyl Shutters

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Exterior Vinyl Shutters are versatile. The selection of colors and styles is wider than other types of exterior shutters and you can use vinyl shutters for any outside applications, like aluminum siding, brick or wood homes. The best advantage for choosing vinyl shutters is how they resist all weather conditions, unlike wood; vinyl will not deform or warp with wetness, will not shrink with cold weather and the paint will not peel. The exterior vinyl shutters can withstand all kinds of unfavorable weather conditions while preserving their shape, color and size.

Vinyl shutters are inexpensive and long lasting. Most of them come with a 40-year warranty and require little to no maintenance. Plus, you can get vinyl shutters in all the favorite styles such as louvered, board-n-batten, raised panel or a combination. The broad selection of trendy vinyl shutters that are in the marketplace gives you a chance to choose a more graceful look than blinds don’t give. You can order them pre-painted or primed and ready for you to paint.

Vinyl shutters are only for looks, they are not functional, but the added beauty they add to the exterior of a home is unmatched. Why pay extra for operable hinged shutters that you have no intention of closing?

Bus Tour Around Jerusalem

Monday, July 12th, 2010

There are many amazing historical sites to see in Jerusalem which is more than likely why you have made it to this ancient city. Put on your good walking shoes and climb into the red double decker tour bus that moves along a loop to almost 30 historical sites each day. Line 99 will not only get you to the different sights it will also give you some narration of the area as you move through it. The explanations are given in eight different languages.

Find your way to the Western Wall Tunnels which took twenty years to excavate and has give new insights to the history of the Temple Mount site. There is an audio tour that one can take along with them while walking through these ancient tunnels.

Visit the Cenaculum of the Last Supper. It may not be to far from your hotel in Jerusalem and for Christians this is one of the most significant stops in the area. Located on Mount Zion is the place where Jesus and his disciples shared their last supper before he was betrayed and then eventually sent to the cross.

Within the Cenaculum there are many generations of other religions remains to be seen. There is the traditional tomb of King David and some Muslim mosque remains. I very interesting site all together.
