Know Where to Find Good Tire Deals

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Virtually no one can afford to waste money in this economy. Most people are on very tight budgets as they attempt to dig themselves out of credit and mortgage debt or because they lost their job in the recent recession and are still recovering. When it comes to big ticket items, like wheels and tires , they need to find the best possible deal.

The internet has made this so much easier. Tire shoppers no longer have to drive from dealer to dealer to see what is in stock and on sale. They can surf to websites that have all the information they need about price and availability for all the major national tire chains as well as regional and even local dealers. This way they can figure out what deal is the best one. They can also browse around for coupons and discount codes that will help them save more money.

There is an important caveat when buying tires. Price isn’t everything. There are some quality cheap tires available. They will be made by reputable manufacturers and are likely on sale because the specific model is being discontinued or a dealer has too many in stock. However, there are tires on the market that aren’t worth even the discount prices they are being sold for. A quick inspection will show that they are poorly made. These tires are going to wear out faster and may be more dangerous to drive on, leading to more blowouts and accidents.

To get a good deal, shoppers need to look for low prices, but also make sure that they aren’t getting shoddy merchandise that will cost them more money in the long run.

History of Slot Machines does not Begin in Las Vegas

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

While slot machines and other gambling games have a strong association to Las Vegas, and rightly so, the machine was not actually invented there. In fact, the first slot machine was developed and built by a man from San Francisco, California named Charles Fey. Although there is a bit of dispute about the actual date of invention, it is commonly accepted that between 1887 and 1895 the first of these machines came into existence. Although the idea had been discussed there were so many different possible outcomes with standard poker games, that an accurate and payable mechanic version didn’t seem possible.

Fey created a machine that replaced the card system and developed a game with symbols. The first slot machine symbols were spades, diamonds, hearts and a liberty bell, which is also how the machine got its name. These five symbols reduced the complexity of reading a winning result and consequently the three spinning wheels could create a payout. Fey devised the first payout system with the highest winnings derived from getting three bells in a row. This produced a payout of ten nickels. This game was an immediate hit and others soon followed. Ironically, only a few years after Fey’s invention, the state of California banned their use. However, right next door, sits Nevada where the games were in extremely high demand and of course slot machines continue to be the game of choice for many people.

Casinos like Caesars Palace Las Vegas and all the other greats are happy to carry on this late 19th century obsession. Meanwhile, across Lake Tahoe from Charles Fey is the biggest little city in the world and some of these early machines are on display there.

Yet some how, almost every couple that gets married believes theirs will last a lifetime. And this is not due to a foolish nature of youth. Greater numbers of people are waiting longer to get married and choosing to do so late in their twenties and sometimes later. In addition, many people put great thought, attention and effort into their first marriage and partner relationship.

In addition to the amount of first marriages that fail it’s interesting to consider the number of people who actually remarry their former spouse. If that sounds a bit confusing to you, imagine how it must feel to the couple. Really, though, marrying your ex from a previous marriage is actually more popular than you would imagine and the second time around with that same person is generally more likely to succeed. However, there is work involved and both people must be able to put anger and resentment from the past behind them, or the relationship remains doomed. Doesn’t sound promising? Well, neither do the original statistics if approached from a negative perspective. Instead, realize that marriage is work, in addition to being one of the most fulfilling and satisfying relationships you will ever have. Care for your marriage as though it’s a separate person. The symbol of your love, your tungsten wedding bands , will take care of themselves.
