Washington Monument in DC Inspires Young Lawyer

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Bill always loved social studies and political sciences while he was in high school and even as far back in elementary school as he could remember. As he sat on the plane destined for Washington DC he remembered his favorite high school teacher. That was not only a significant year for Bill, but Mr. Brownstone also played a major role in his life choice decisions. Bill was very interested in pursing a career in constitutional law, and had been dismayed by almost everyone he came in contact with and was repeatedly pushed in the direct of criminal law. It was Mr. Brownstone alone that convinced him that following his own path and pursuing his own passions and ambitions was far more important than statistical practicality in the ultimate goal of life satisfaction, which Mr. Brownstone considered to be of paramount importance when pursing a law career of any kind.

So, there he sat drinking his complimentary coca cola and browsing through the Washington Post as the plane made its final descent into Bill’s new home. He had just recently received news that he landed his first job in a real DC firm and his career was actually getting started. As soon as he checked into his room in one of the luxury hotels DC Bill, almost instinctively, headed straight to the National Mall and the Washington Monument. He wasn’t sure why, perhaps he wanted to imbed that iconic obelisk into him memory of this important moment in his life. Symbolically he could look back at this significant moment and it was almost comforting to feel the support of this huge monument. And although he had not ambition to serve as president, he did honor the fact that the monument was built for the first US President, George Washington and he did have intentions to work with the presidential office. He felt it was a great privilege to be a part of the governmental operations of this great country and almost felt a tear in his eye as he looked up at the world’s largest stone sculpture.
