Charter Jet Empty Leg Offers

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

A good percentage of the time, private jets fly without any passengers on board. They usually drop one client at a destination point and pick up the next client at a different point. That distance could be as short a hop like Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. It can also be a larger distance, like Los Angeles to New York. These flight, which have no passengers, are what the industry refers to as ‘Empty Legs‘.

Empty Legs syndrome is usually not an offer made by most local charter companies. But, a charter jet, or private jet do offer Empty Leg when available to their clients at a point A to point B price and sometimes at a less expensive rate. The most common routes for Empty Legs are flights from coast to coast, like New York to Los Angeles and from Los Angeles to New York. Or from northern parts of the country to southern parts of the country, like Miami to New York.

Don’t confuse Empty Leg with any one way offer or a fixed hourly program rate. These programs and similar programs only claim to offer a true one-way price, but the fact is that a one-way trip from Miami to New York, say with a 25 hour card program, can cost you up to $13,000 or a little bit less if you have a fixed hourly program. An Empty Leg will go for around $9,000 or less.
