Swimming Pools Provide Fun Summer Entertainment in Palm Springs

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Flying into Palm Springs, California one of the first things you should notice is that the city is indeed surrounded by the desert and mountains. The second thing you should notice is all of the swimming pools that there are in Palm Springs. Motels have swimming pools, hotels have swimming pools, there are public swimming pools and private swimming pools. I might have even seen a fast food restaurant with a swimming pool, well maybe not. Palm Springs, California is a modern city surrounded by an ancient desert so it is going to have swimming pools.

Some of the public pools in Palm Springs also offer swimming lessons. These are available for children starting from very young ages and are also suited for all ages of adults. The Palm Springs Swim Center is the main public pool and has an Olympic sized 50 meter body of water. It is open to the public year round and is a perfect place to get some quality lap swimming exercise oriented strokes in. There is a separate recreational swimming area for families with small children. This area ranges in depth from two to three feet and is great for larger children and adults to relax and wade and for younger children to practice and become used to the water. The pool was first opened to the public in November of 1975. This and the fact that it is an open aired outdoor pool that is open all year should say a little about the weather in Palm Springs.

Palm Springs, California is not the only city built in a desert that has a lot of swimming pools, though it is certainly one of the most beautiful. There are cities built in deserts all around the world and they all have swimming pools. There are cities that are not built in deserts and they have swimming pools. Cities around the world have summers and have people who like to swim and Palm Springs, California is just one of them. So while you are enjoying your stay at a Palm Springs best hotel get out and enjoy the pool, I’ll bet they have one.
